Vic: Hotline for elder abuse too little, too late - Opposition

The Victorian opposition says a helpline for elderly people who are being abused is
too little .. too late.

Opposition spokeswoman on Ageing MARY WOOLDRIDGE says three-and-a-half years after
a report recommended the issue of elderly abuse be looked at .. the government's only
response is the hotline announced today.

Studies estimate that one to five per cent of older people experience some form of
abuse or neglect.

The hotline opens at 10am tomorrow .. on 1300 386 821.
